This department is generally viewed as behind the curtain, but they do have a significant impact on our hotels. We are talking about the Tax Department. Whether it is the monthly challenge of filing sales tax or dealing with the multiple annual filing deadlines, Christy and her team handle it all in stride.

The COVID pandemic forced Shaner to transition two hotels, Pittsburgh & Chattanooga, in very complicated transactions which had serious tax ramifications for the company. Christy had a large role in spearheading our tax strategy while dealing with some significant personal challenges this past year.

The 2022 Corporate Employee of the Year is Christy Fisher.
